Troubleshooting

This guide covers common issues with the BassWatch and how to resolve them. If problems persist after trying the solutions below, contact LF Audio support.

Power and Charging Issues

Issue Solution
Watch will not wake / screen stays black The battery may be empty. Connect it to USB-C power and wait a few minutes, then tap the screen or press the side button. See Battery and Charging.
Not charging when plugged in Try a different USB-C cable and a different power source. Make sure the connector is fully seated. Charging is slow or paused in very hot or very cold conditions.
Battery drains quickly Lower the brightness, shorten Dim After and Sleep After, and leave Deep Sleep on in Settings. Staying on the watch face (rather than an audio analysis view) also reduces draw. See Battery and Charging.
Screen keeps turning off too fast Increase Dim After and Sleep After in Settings. To stop the screen turning off by itself entirely, turn Sleep off.
Screen still turns off while it is plugged in This is intended. The BassWatch dims and sleeps on the same schedule whether or not it is charging, to protect the display from burn-in. Turn Sleep off in Settings if you need it to stay lit.
Raising my wrist does not wake it Make sure Tilt to Wake is on in Settings. You can always wake it with a tap, the side button, or by connecting power.
The first tap after waking does nothing This is intended. The tap that wakes the screen is not passed through to whatever was underneath it, so a stray bump cannot change a setting. Tap again once the watch face is showing.

Connection Issues

Issue Solution
Stuck on "Searching" or the pairing screen Make sure the device you want is discoverable. A WVC, SSA, or WTH must be in pairing mode: press its Reset button three times until its light flashes. An HPVM voltmeter needs no button press; just power it on and keep it nearby. Move the BassWatch closer and try again, or swipe right to rescan.
Frequent disconnections Check the Signal field in System Info. If it is weak (below -80 dBm), move closer to the base station or reduce obstructions. Metal panels and dense wiring interfere with the wireless signal.
"Reconnecting" after a base station power cycle This is normal. The BassWatch reconnects automatically when the base station comes back on. The channel scanner activates after about 15 seconds of silence, so recovery typically completes within 15 to 25 seconds.
Link drops when I walk away, comes back when I return Expected for a wrist-worn device. Range depends on distance and obstructions; the watch reconnects on its own when back in range.
Paired but no data appears (stuck on "Reconnecting", even after a restart) Update the BassWatch to 4.8.1 or newer, and the base station to its latest firmware. A fault in older firmware could occasionally leave a paired watch locked out of its base station after a routine background refresh of the secure wireless link, and the only recovery was Advanced > Forget Base followed by a re-pair. That is fixed. If you are on older firmware and stuck right now, use Advanced > Forget Base, confirm, and pair again to recover, then update.
Won't pair with a new device Use Advanced > Forget Base (or Factory Reset) to clear the stored pairing, then pair again. Put a WVC, SSA, or WTH into pairing mode first (Reset pressed three times until the light flashes); an HPVM appears over Bluetooth with no button press.
Connection drops when other WiFi devices are nearby The BassWatch uses automatic channel scanning to avoid interference. If issues persist, reduce the number of active 2.4 GHz devices in the area.

Display and Touch Issues

Issue Solution
Screen too dim or too bright Adjust brightness in Settings > Brightness (10-100%).
Screen is black but the watch has charge Raise your wrist or tap the screen to wake it. If it stays dark, connect it to power to confirm it is charged.
Touch not responding Touch the screen with a bare finger; gloves may not register. Make sure the screen is clean and dry.
Swiping does not change the screen on Temp, FFT, Scope, or Waterfall Update to firmware 4.8.1 or newer. On older firmware, swipes on the Temp view were ignored, and a swipe that began on or crossed the channel pair button (for example CH 1-2) or the view style button (3D / SPEC, COMB / SPLIT) did not register. Until you update, change modes by tapping a tab along the bottom instead. See Firmware Updates.
Touch works in some areas but not others Clean and dry the screen, and check that a screen protector or trim edge is not overlapping the glass. If a specific area is consistently unresponsive, contact LF Audio support with a photo of the affected area. This is likely a hardware issue with that unit's touch panel, which a reset cannot fix.
A mode tab I expected is missing The mode tabs adapt to the connected device. Volts and Volume appear on a WVC base station (an HPVM shows Volts only); Temp appears on a WVC-PRO / WVC-PRO 6 (amp probes) or a WTH; FFT, Scope, and Waterfall appear on a WVC-PRO / WVC-PRO 6 or an SSA. See Overview for the full capability table.
FFT / Scope / Waterfall shows "No connection" (red) The base station is gone, so there is no audio analysis to draw. Confirm it is powered on and in range; check the link in System Info. The view resumes on its own when the link returns.
FFT / Scope / Waterfall shows "Waiting for data..." The link is up but the analysis frames have briefly stalled. This is normal for a second or two after waking the watch, since the watch re-establishes the link first. It fills in on its own. If it persists, check the signal strength in System Info.
Watch face shows the wrong time Set the time from Set Time in the menu, and choose 12-hour or 24-hour display there. See Menus and Settings.
Tapping the watch face does not open monitoring If the watch is paired but the device is off or out of range, the watch face shows Reconnecting and stays put rather than opening a screen with no data; confirm the device is powered on, and monitoring opens once live readings return. If the watch is not paired at all, the watch face shows a Tap to Pair button instead, which starts pairing.

Volume and Temperature Display Issues

Issue Solution
A volume fader shows "MUTE" That group's volume is at 0. Raise it by dragging the fader, or from your knob, RTC, or the LF Audio AuralSync app.
Volume shown as a percentage but I want dB (or vice-versa) Change it in Settings > Volume Units.
A temperature probe shows no reading The BassWatch hides a probe's readout when no sensor is plugged into that jack on the base station. Connect a probe, or ignore the empty slot. If nothing is connected, the Temp view shows a single --.
Wrong temperature units Change the units in Settings > Temp Units (F or C). The setting appears only when a probe is connected.
Voltage reading seems inaccurate Use Base Settings > Voltage Drift to offset the reading. Compare with a known-accurate voltmeter and adjust until they match (the live Voltage row at the bottom of Base Settings helps you verify).
IDS warning icon keeps appearing The system voltage is below the Min Voltage threshold, or the temperature is above Max Temp. Address the underlying issue (low battery, poor ventilation), or adjust the thresholds in Base Settings.
Competition icon showing unexpectedly Competition mode may be enabled. Open Base Settings > Competition and set it to Off.

Firmware Update Issues

Issue Solution
WiFi network not found during an update Make sure you are within range. The BassWatch scans 2.4 GHz only; 5 GHz networks will not appear. For a hidden network, use Enter Manually in the WiFi list.
Only 5 GHz WiFi available The BassWatch's radio is 2.4 GHz only. Most routers broadcast both bands under one name; confirm 2.4 GHz is not disabled. If your network is 5 GHz only, enable a 2.4 GHz hotspot on your phone for the update.
"Server is unreachable" after connecting The BassWatch joined the network but cannot reach the update server. Make sure the network has internet access and is not a captive portal (such as guest WiFi that requires a browser login). Try a different network.
Update fails partway A failed update does not affect the firmware already installed. Wait a moment and retry with a strong WiFi signal, and keep the watch on charge so it does not run out of battery.
Saved WiFi password is wrong Remove the network in Settings > WiFi and re-enter it through the discovery wizard.
"Update Base" is missing from the menu Update Base is hidden unless the connected base station can perform the update itself. If you are connected and still do not see it, wait until live readings appear (the watch needs a moment to learn what the base station is), then reopen the menu.

System Issues

Issue Solution
BassWatch is unresponsive Let the screen turn off and wake it again (tap the screen or press the side button). If it stays frozen, connect it to USB-C power to wake and charge it.
Settings not saving The BassWatch saves settings automatically. If they are lost, try a Factory Reset and reconfigure (a reset clears your pairing, so you will re-pair afterward).
Want to move the watch to another system Use Advanced > Forget Base, then pair with the new device. A full Factory Reset also clears your display preferences and color theme.

Forget Base vs Factory Reset

Both actions are under Advanced and both return the BassWatch to the watch face, unpaired, with a Tap to Pair button ready:

  • Forget Base clears only the stored pairing. Your display preferences, units, color theme, time, and saved WiFi networks are kept. Use this to pair a different base station.
  • Factory Reset clears everything: pairing, display preferences, color theme, and the saved WiFi networks used for updates. Use this for a clean start or before reselling the unit.

To perform either:

  1. Long-press the screen (or press the side button) to open the menu
  2. Select Advanced
  3. Select Forget Base or Factory Reset
  4. Choose the confirmation (Confirm Forget or Confirm Reset)
  5. The BassWatch returns to the watch face, unpaired, ready to pair a new device (tap Tap to Pair)
Warning

A Factory Reset erases your pairing, display preferences, color theme, and the saved WiFi networks used for firmware updates. You will need to re-pair with your base station afterward (as described in First Boot and Pairing) and re-enter a WiFi network the next time you update. Use Forget Base instead if you want to keep those, since it clears only the pairing.
