This guide covers common issues with the WDD-LITE and how to resolve them. If problems persist after trying the solutions below, contact LF Audio support.
Connection Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Stuck on "Searching" or the pairing screen | Make sure the base station is powered on and its front-panel light is flashing (press its Reset button three times to enter pairing mode). Move the WDD-LITE closer to the base station and try again. |
| Frequent disconnections | Check the Signal field in System Info. If it is weak (below -80 dBm), reposition the WDD-LITE closer to the base station or reduce obstructions. Metal panels and dense wiring interfere with the wireless signal. |
| "Reconnecting" after a base station power cycle | This is normal. The WDD-LITE reconnects automatically when the base station comes back on. The channel scanner activates after about 15 seconds of silence, so recovery typically completes within 15 to 25 seconds. |
| Paired but no data appears (stuck on "Reconnecting" / "Waiting for data") | The link connected but the encryption keys did not negotiate. Open the menu, go to Advanced > Forget Base, confirm, and pair again so a fresh key exchange happens. If it persists, factory-reset the base station too. |
| Won't pair with a new base station | Use Advanced > Forget Base (or Factory Reset) to clear the stored pairing, then pair again with the base station in pairing mode (Reset pressed three times until the light flashes). |
| Connection drops when other WiFi devices are nearby | The WDD-LITE uses automatic channel scanning to avoid interference. If issues persist, reduce the number of active 2.4 GHz devices in the area. |
Display and Touch Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| Screen too dim or too bright | Adjust brightness in Settings > Brightness (10-100%). |
| Screen is black but the unit appears powered | Tap the screen to wake the display. If it stays dark, power-cycle the system (the WDD-LITE powers on with the remote turn-on circuit). |
| Touch not responding | Touch the screen with a bare finger; gloves may not register. Make sure the screen is clean and dry. |
| Touch works in some areas but not others | Perform a Factory Reset (Advanced > Factory Reset). If a dead zone is reproducible after the reset, contact LF Audio support with a photo of the affected area. |
| A mode tab I expected is missing | The mode tabs adapt to your base station. Temp appears only with temperature probes; FFT, Scope, and Waterfall require a WVC-PRO or WVC-PRO 6 (the per-channel pair selector on the analysis views is WVC-PRO 6 only). See Overview for the full capability table. |
| FFT / Scope / Waterfall shows "NO DATA" | The audio analysis data stopped arriving. Confirm the connection is healthy in System Info; the view resumes when data returns. These views require a WVC-PRO or WVC-PRO 6 base station. |
Volume and Temperature Display Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| A volume fader shows "MUTE" | That group's volume is at 0. Raise the volume from your knob, RTC, or the LF Audio AuralSync app. |
| Volume shown as a percentage but I want dB (or vice-versa) | Change it in Settings > Volume Units. |
| A temperature probe shows no reading | The WDD-LITE hides a probe's readout when no sensor is plugged into that jack. Connect a probe, or ignore the empty slot. If nothing is connected, the Temp view shows a single --. |
| Wrong temperature units | Change the units in Settings > Temp Units (°F or °C). The setting appears only when a probe is connected. |
| Voltage reading seems inaccurate | Use Base Settings > Voltage Drift to offset the reading. Compare with a known-accurate voltmeter and adjust until they match (the live Voltage row at the bottom of Base Settings helps you verify). |
| IDS warning icon keeps appearing | The system voltage is below the Min Voltage threshold, or the temperature is above Max Temp. Address the underlying issue (low battery, poor ventilation), or adjust the thresholds in Base Settings. |
| Competition icon showing unexpectedly | Competition mode may be enabled. Open Base Settings > Competition and set it to Off. |
Firmware Update Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| WiFi network not found during an update | Make sure you are within range. The WDD-LITE scans 2.4 GHz only; 5 GHz networks will not appear. For a hidden network, use Enter Manually in the WiFi list. |
| Only 5 GHz WiFi available | The WDD-LITE's radio is 2.4 GHz only. Most routers broadcast both bands under one name; confirm 2.4 GHz is not disabled. If your network is 5 GHz only, enable a 2.4 GHz hotspot on your phone for the update. |
| "Server is unreachable" after connecting | The WDD-LITE joined the network but cannot reach the update server. Make sure the network has internet access and is not a captive portal (such as guest WiFi that requires a browser login). Try a different network. |
| Update fails partway | A failed update does not affect the firmware already installed. Wait a moment and retry with a strong WiFi signal. |
| Saved WiFi password is wrong | Remove the network in Settings > WiFi and re-enter it through the discovery wizard. |
| "Update Base" is missing from the menu | Update Base appears only when connected to the base station. Make sure the WDD-LITE shows live data first. |
System Issues
| Issue | Solution |
|---|---|
| WDD-LITE is unresponsive | Power-cycle the system (the WDD-LITE powers off and on with the remote turn-on circuit). |
| Settings not saving | The WDD-LITE saves settings automatically. If they are lost after a power cycle, try a Factory Reset and reconfigure (a reset clears your pairing, so you will re-pair afterward). |
| Want to move the unit to another vehicle | Use Advanced > Forget Base, then pair with the new base station. A full Factory Reset also clears your display preferences and color theme. |
Forget Base vs Factory Reset
Both actions are under Advanced and both restart the WDD-LITE into the getting-started wizard:
- Forget Base clears only the stored pairing. Your display preferences, units, and color theme are kept. Use this to pair a different base station.
- Factory Reset clears everything: pairing, display preferences, and color theme. Saved WiFi networks for updates are kept. Use this for a clean start or before reselling the unit.
To perform either:
- Long-press the screen (or tap the gear) to open the menu
- Select Advanced
- Select Forget Base or Factory Reset
- Choose the confirmation (Confirm Forget or Confirm Reset)
- The WDD-LITE restarts and the getting-started wizard appears
Warning
A Factory Reset erases your pairing, display preferences, and color theme. Your saved WiFi networks for firmware updates are preserved. You will need to re-pair with your base station afterward, as described in First Boot and Pairing.
