The BassWatch provides a menu system for device settings, base station configuration, system information, and advanced functions. Open the menu by long-pressing the screen, or by pressing the side button. The side button works from any screen, and a long press from most screens. So the menu is reachable even when the watch is unpaired or the base station is offline. Neither one opens the menu during a firmware update.
A long press does not open the menu on these screens:
- Channel Groups: it goes back.
- Pair WVC and Pair Knob: it does what Back, Cancel, No or Continue does on that step.
- Set Time: it does nothing. So you can hold a button to change a value fast.
- The color picker: a long press on an empty part of the screen does what Cancel does. Your new color is not saved.
Menu Navigation
- Swipe up / down to move through menu items, or flick to scroll the list
- Tap an item to activate it
- Swipe right to go back from any sub-screen. On a list screen, you can also tap the title at the top. The Battery screen has a Back button instead

Base Info appears while the BassWatch is connected to a device. Base Settings appears only for a WVC base station, since it configures one. Volume and base station settings are WVC features: an SSA, a WTH, or an HPVM voltmeter is a read-only source, so those rows do not appear for them.
Pair WVC, Channel Groups, Pair Knob and Smart Home appear only while the watch is connected to a WVC base station. Each also needs base station firmware that supports it. See Advanced.
Settings
Device-level settings for the BassWatch itself. Changes are saved automatically.
| Setting | Type | Options / Range | Description |
|---|---|---|---|
| Brightness | Slider | 10-100% | Display brightness level. Applies immediately as you adjust it. Lower brightness saves battery. |
| Orientation | Navigation | (sub-menu) | Which way up the display draws: Landscape, Landscape Flipped, Portrait, or Portrait Flipped. Restarts the watch to apply. See Orientation below. |
| Volume Units | Toggle | dB / % | How volume is shown on the Volume console and the top-bar glance. |
| Temp Units | Toggle | F / C | Temperature display units. Appears only when the connected device has temperature inputs (a WVC-PRO, a WVC-PRO 6 or a WTH hub). It shows even with no probe plugged in. |
| 24 Hour | Toggle | On / Off | On shows the time in 24-hour format. Off shows 12-hour time with AM and PM. Applies to the watch face and Set Time. |
| Playback | Toggle | On / Off | Adds a PLAY view to the monitoring screen. It controls music on the phone connected to your base station over Bluetooth: previous, play/pause and next. Appears only when your base station supports it. |
| Min/Max | Toggle | All-Time / Window | Controls the min/max readout under the Volts view. All-Time shows the lowest and highest values since power-on; Window shows the lowest and highest values currently visible in the trend graph. |
| Enable High Speed | Toggle | On / Off | Asks the connected base station to send data over the faster wireless mode instead of the long-range one. It is a request, not a command: the base station speeds the link up only when the watch is close enough and its own firmware supports it. When it does, the FFT and Scope views refresh several times faster. When the setting is off, the link stays in the long-range mode, which reaches furthest. Takes effect within about ten to twelve seconds, with no restart. Default On. See High Speed Link. |
| Auto Swap | Toggle | On / Off | Automatically cycles the monitoring screen through the available mode tabs. |
| Swap Time | Slider | 2-60s | How long each mode is shown before switching (appears only when Auto Swap is on). |
| Volts, Volume, Temp, FFT, Scope, Waterfall | Toggle | Show / Hide | One row for each view your base station offers (appears only when Auto Swap is on). Set a view to Hide to leave it out of Auto Swap. You can still swipe or tap to a hidden view. |
| Dim After | Slider | 15-180s | How long without touch before the screen dims. |
| Sleep | Toggle | On / Off | Master switch for the inactivity sleep. When off, the screen never turns off on its own. Dimming still works. |
| Sleep After | Slider | 30-240s | How long without touch before the screen turns off (appears only when Sleep is on). Always resolves to a longer time than Dim After, so the dim stage stays reachable. |
| Tilt to Wake | Toggle | On / Off | When on, raising or turning your wrist wakes the screen. |
| Deep Sleep | Toggle | On / Off | When on, the watch enters a deeper low-power state after the screen has been off a while, to save the most battery. Stays available when Sleep is off, because it also governs a screen-off you trigger by hand. See Battery and Charging. |
| Colors | Navigation | (sub-menu) | Opens the Colors menu: pick a built-in theme, edit the gradient, or override individual element colors. |
| WiFi | Navigation | (sub-menu) | Manage the WiFi networks used for firmware updates. See Firmware Updates. |
The rows are listed in the order they appear on the screen. Back returns you to the main menu.
High Speed Link
The BassWatch and your base station can talk in one of two wireless modes. Long Range mode reaches the furthest and is the safe choice when you are far from the base station or separated from it by metal panels. High Speed mode carries more data, which makes the FFT and Scope views refresh several times faster.
Settings > Enable High Speed controls which one the watch asks for. It is On by default.
Turning it on is a request rather than a command. The base station makes the final decision and speeds the link up only when the watch is close enough to it and its own firmware supports the faster mode. With the setting off, the link stays in Long Range mode whatever the conditions.
There is no restart. The change takes effect within about ten to twelve seconds, and the LR / HS label beside the signal-strength meter shows which mode is actually in use. See Link Mode.
High Speed affects the FFT and Scope views only. The Waterfall view already streams at its own fixed rate and refreshes at the same speed either way, and the voltage, volume, and temperature readings are unaffected.
A watch travels further from the base station than a dash-mounted display does. If it disconnects or stops responding when you walk away from the vehicle, set Enable High Speed to Off. Long Range mode trades analysis refresh rate for reach, which is the right trade when range is the problem.
Orientation
Settings > Orientation sets which way up the BassWatch draws its screen, so the watch reads correctly whichever wrist you wear it on and whichever way the band is fitted. There are four choices:
| Option | Use |
|---|---|
| Landscape | The default, right-side up |
| Landscape Flipped | Landscape rotated 180 degrees |
| Portrait | Rotated a quarter turn |
| Portrait Flipped | Portrait rotated 180 degrees |
Pick an orientation and confirm. The watch restarts to apply it, which takes a few seconds; your pairing and all other settings are kept. Selecting the orientation that is already active does nothing and does not restart the watch.
The whole interface follows the choice, including the watch face, the monitoring screen, and the menus. The mode tabs stay in one row in every orientation. If they do not all fit, swipe the tab row sideways to see the rest.
Set Time
Set the clock from Set Time in the main menu. The BassWatch keeps time with an internal real-time clock, so the watch face stays current even while the watch sleeps or is powered down. Here you set the current date and time. Tap Done, or swipe right, to save.
To pick 12-hour or 24-hour time, use Settings > 24 Hour. Your choice applies to the watch face. See Watch Faces.
Battery
Open Battery from the main menu to see the watch's own battery.
- The large number is the charge level. While the watch is plugged in, it reads Charging instead.
- Below it is the battery voltage. A charging symbol shows while it is plugged in.
- The graph shows how the battery voltage has changed recently.
Tap Back, or swipe right, to return to the menu. See Battery and Charging.
Colors
Customize the colors used across the watch face, monitoring screens, audio visualizers, and status icons. Your choices are saved automatically and survive reboots and firmware updates.
| Item | Description |
|---|---|
| Theme Gradient | Edit the two-color gradient that drives the volume groups, channel views, voltage, and temperature probes. The currently active theme's name is shown here. |
| Presets | A list of 16 ready-made themes. LF Audio is the default. Tap one to apply it instantly. The active theme has a bright border around its swatch. |
| Advanced Colors | Override individual element colors one at a time. The list only shows rows that apply to your setup. |
| Reset All Colors | Restores the default LF Audio palette and clears every individual override, after a confirmation step. |
Available Presets
All 16 presets ship on every BassWatch:
LF Audio (default), Sunset, Ocean, Inferno, Mono Pink, Forest, Neon, Plasma, Lava, Ice, Apex, Bass, Crimson, Royal, Mint, and Vapor.
Using the Color Picker
When you choose a color, a picker appears with a color wheel and a brightness slider:
- Touch the wheel to set the color. The angle sets the hue, and the distance from the center sets how vivid it is.
- Drag the slider to adjust brightness.
- Tap OK to save, or Cancel (or swipe right) to discard.
Base Info
Information about the connected base station. Values update automatically while this screen is open. On a WVC base station, you can also rename it here. See Name below.
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Model | Base station model (e.g., WVC-PRO, WVC-PRO 6, WVC-LITE) |
| Hardware | Base station hardware version |
| Daughtercard HW | Daughtercard hardware version (WVC-PRO 6 only) |
| CPU1 FW | Main processor firmware version |
| CPU2 FW | Secondary processor firmware version |
| CPU3 FW | Daughtercard firmware version (WVC-PRO 6 only) |
| Built | Base station manufacture date |
| Uptime | Time since the base station was last powered on |
| Name | The base station's name. If it shows a pencil icon, tap it to rename the base station. See the tip below. |
| UUID | Unique device identifier |
| BT Pin | Bluetooth pairing PIN |
To rename a WVC base station, tap Name. A keyboard opens. Type the new name, up to 15 characters. Tap OK to save, or Back to leave without saving. BassWatch needs firmware 4.12.3 or newer. The base station needs CPU1 FW 4.12.2 or newer. It also needs CPU2 FW 4.13.1 or newer. Until then, Name has no pencil icon. One base station update usually installs both. If CPU2 FW still shows an older number, update the base station again. You can also rename it in the LF Audio AuralSync app. Tap the gear icon on the base station's monitoring screen. Open the DEVICE tab. Its first tab shows Device Name. Edit the name there. See Device Settings.
Base Settings
Configuration options for the connected base station. Changes are sent to the base station immediately. Some settings have child options that appear or hide based on the parent value.
IDS Mode (Intelligent Drive System)
Controls how the system responds to abnormal voltage or temperature. For full details on what each mode does, see the Intelligent Drive System (IDS) article.
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Off | IDS disabled |
| Mute | Sets volume to 0 when triggered. Volume stays at 0 after the condition clears, so turn it back up manually. |
| Rem Off | Drops the Remote Out signal when triggered, turning off any amplifier wired through it. Remote Out restores automatically about 1 second after the condition clears. |
| Mute+Rem | Both sets volume to 0 and drops Remote Out. Remote Out auto-restores; volume must be turned back up manually. |
| Limit Vol | Gradually reduces volume while triggered. Volume stays at the reduced level after the condition clears, so turn it back up manually. |
WVC-LITE options: Off, Mute, Limit Vol (a LITE base station has no remote-output wire, so the Rem Off modes do not apply). The BassWatch automatically offers only the modes your base station supports.
When IDS Mode is set to anything other than Off, these child settings appear:
- Min Voltage (slider, 6.0-18.0V, step 0.1V): the voltage threshold below which IDS triggers. Most 12 V car audio systems run between 12.0V-14.4V; a typical safe threshold is 11.0V-11.5V.
- Max Temp (WVC-PRO / WVC-PRO 6 only): the temperature threshold above which IDS triggers. The slider uses your Temp Units: 80-240 F or 27-116 C. It takes the unit set when you first open Base Settings after the watch starts. If you change Temp Units later, Max Temp keeps the old unit until the watch restarts. The threshold itself stays correct. A typical safe threshold for car amplifiers is around 150-160 F (65-70 C). It shows on these base stations even when no probe is plugged in.
Competition Mode
Competition Mode is for SPL contests. It turns your system down when no knob or display is connected to the base station. The LF Audio AuralSync app does not count.
| Option | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Off | Normal operation |
| Mute | With no knob or display connected, the base station sets every channel group to 0. The volume stays at 0 until you turn it back up. |
| Limit Vol | With no knob or display connected, the base station turns every channel group down. It goes from full volume to 0 in about 10 seconds. It stops when a knob or display connects again. The volume does not come back up by itself. |
On battery, the BassWatch turns off its wireless link when its screen turns off. The base station then counts the watch as not connected. If nothing else is connected, your system then mutes or turns down.
To keep your system playing in Competition Mode, do one of these:
- Keep a knob, an RTC, or another display connected too. A PRO knob needs firmware 4.12.3 or newer.
- Keep the watch on its charger. A plugged-in watch keeps its link up.
- Turn Sleep off in Settings. This uses more battery. Do not turn the screen off with the power button. On battery, that still turns off the wireless link.
Remember Vol
When enabled, the base station saves the current volume level and restores it after a power cycle. When this is on:
- Max Startup Vol (slider, 0-100%, step 1%): caps the volume at startup so the system never powers on at full volume. Available on base station firmware 3.5.0 or newer.
RCA Gain
Toggles RCA output gain on or off. Each time you turn it on, the BassWatch first shows a full-screen WARNING about overvoltage. Tap Enable Gain to turn gain on, or Cancel to leave it off. Turning it off takes effect right away. On older base stations a Gain Level slider also appears, letting you boost the signal from 0 dB to +31.5 dB in 0.5 dB steps, with a live output-voltage preview.
On base station firmware 2.0.0 or newer, you set gain for each channel instead. When RCA Gain is on, these rows appear under it:
- A Unit 1, Unit 2 (and so on) heading for each linked base station, up to 4.
- A Chan 1 gain, Chan 2 gain (and so on) slider for each of that unit's channels. Each step is 0.5 dB.
- A live output-voltage preview under each slider.
Each change is sent to the base station as you make it.
Important: Gain can drive the RCA outputs to voltages that exceed the rated input of most car amplifiers and can permanently damage equipment if set incorrectly. For the full safety warning, the gain calculator, the safe enable procedure (measuring with a multimeter, power-down ordering, and so on), and the liability disclaimer, see RCA Gain. Do not enable this feature without reading that article.
Volume Curve
Selects the curve that maps the volume position to output level. A live graph and a short description of the selected curve are shown.
| Curve | Behavior |
|---|---|
| Natural | Logarithmic response. Most volume change at the low end, feels natural to the ear |
| Linear | Even response: equal volume change per step across the full range |
| Audio Taper | Steep response. Most of the range is concentrated in the upper portion |
| S-Curve | Smooth at both ends, moderate change in the middle |
| Competition | Very steep: minimal volume until near the top, then a rapid increase |
Volume Curve is only available when connected to base station firmware 3.2.0 or newer.
Volume Floor
Sets the quietest level the system will output at any volume setting above zero, so the lowest usable volume stays controllable instead of dropping to near-silence. Turn Volume Floor on to enable it; when it is on, a Floor Level control appears so you can set how low it goes. The floor is stored on the base station and applies on top of whichever Volume Curve you have selected.
Volume Floor is only available when connected to base station firmware 4.4.1 or newer. If the control is missing, check the base station's firmware version and update it.
Clip Detection
Sets how readily the CLIP indicators light up. Choose Off, Low, Medium, or High. Off turns clip detection off. High is the most sensitive. See Clip Detection for what each level is for.
The watch does not show CLIP indicators itself. You see them in the LF Audio AuralSync app and on an RTC.
Clip Detection appears only on a WVC-PRO or WVC-PRO 6 with base station firmware 4.4.1 or newer.
Voltage Drift
A calibration offset applied to the voltage reading (range -5.0V to +5.0V, step 0.05V). Use this if the displayed voltage does not match a known-accurate voltmeter.
Live Voltage
At the bottom of Base Settings, a live Voltage row shows the current vehicle voltage as the base station reads it, updating about every half second. This lets you verify a Voltage Drift adjustment without leaving the screen.
Advanced
The Advanced screen holds firmware updates, the WVC base station tools (Pair WVC, Channel Groups, Pair Knob and Smart Home), and the reset actions. Each destructive action requires a confirmation.
Update Firmware
Starts an over-the-air firmware update for the BassWatch itself. It only installs a version newer than the one already on the device. See Firmware Updates for the full workflow.
Repair Firmware
Installs the latest published firmware even when the BassWatch is already up to date (a normal Update Firmware stops and reports "up to date" in that case). It uses the same WiFi and download steps as Update Firmware. Use it to repair an update that was interrupted, or firmware that is misbehaving, or when LF Audio support asks you to. See Firmware Updates.
Update Base
Sends an update request to the connected base station, which then downloads and installs its own update. See Firmware Updates.
If your system is a mesh with more than one base station, this row reads Update All Bases: a single selection updates every base station in the mesh, not just the one the BassWatch is connected to.
This option is hidden unless the connected base station can perform the update itself. If you are connected and do not see the row, wait until live readings appear, then reopen the menu.
Pair WVC
Links another WVC base station to your system. Then you can put its channels into your channel groups. Needs base station firmware 2.0.0 or newer.
First, get the new base station ready:
- A new base station needs nothing. Power it on.
- A base station that was used before must be reset. Hold its reset button for about 3 seconds. This erases that base station's settings and any knobs or displays paired to it.
Then:
- Select Pair WVC, then tap Start.
- The Scanning screen asks you to hold the reset button on the new WVC for 3 seconds. Skip this if the base station is new, or if you already reset it.
- Pick the new base station from the list.
- Wait while the watch links it.
Caution: Do not press the new base station's reset button three times. Three quick presses only let a knob or display pair with it. Pair WVC then shows Reset Needed. Reset it instead, as above.
When it works, the screen reads Connected. Tap Yes to link another WVC, or No to finish.
If it cannot link the base station, the screen says why. Tap Retry to try again, or Cancel to stop.
| Screen | What it means |
|---|---|
| Update Needed | The new base station needs a firmware update first. Update it, then try again. |
| Not Compatible | That device cannot join a WVC system. Pick a WVC base station. |
| Already Linked | You picked your primary base station. The screen says to put the new base station in pairing mode. For Pair WVC, that means getting it ready as above, not three presses. Tap Retry, then pick the new base station. |
| Reset Needed | The new base station is not ready to link. Hold its reset button for 3 seconds, then try again. |
| Not Added | The new base station was not added. Check that your primary base station is on, then try again. |
Once you tap Start, the watch restarts when Pair WVC ends, even if you leave part way. The screen shows Restarting first. After the restart, the watch reconnects to your base station.
Channel Groups
Sets up channel groups on your WVC base station from the watch. Needs base station firmware 2.0.0 or newer. For what groups do, see Channel Groups and Multi-Unit Control.
The screen shows Updating... until the base station sends its groups. Then it shows these rows:
| Row | What it does |
|---|---|
| Channel Groups | How many groups you have, from 1 to 24. |
| Group 1 Name, Group 2 Name, and so on | Tap one to open a keyboard. Type a name of up to 10 characters, then tap OK. |
| Group 1, Group 2, and so on | Standalone gives the group its own volume. Relative to 1, Relative to 2 (and so on) makes it follow that group. |
| Unit 1, Unit 2, and so on | One heading for each linked base station, with its model. |
| Channel 1, Channel 2, and so on | Under each unit. Pick the group for that channel. |
After you name a group, its name shows in these choices. For example, Relative to 2 becomes Rel to Subs, and Group 2 becomes Subs.
Your changes save when you leave the screen: tap Back or the title, swipe right, or long-press. There is no Cancel. The base station must still be connected when you leave, or the changes are not saved. Opening the menu with the side button does not save them.
Pair Knob
Puts your WVC base station into knob pairing mode, so another knob can join your system. Needs base station firmware 3.1.1 or newer.
- Select Pair Knob, then tap Start.
- Base Station Ready: the base station's light blinks. Tap Next.
- Power On Knob: power on the new knob and factory reset it from its Advanced menu. Tap Next.
- Waiting: when the new knob shows its main screen, tap Done.
- Complete: tap Continue.
If you tap Cancel, the screen tells you to power cycle the base station. That takes it out of pairing mode.
Smart Home
Shows your WVC base station's Home Mode and smart home status, and lets you change them. Needs base station firmware 3.9.0 or newer. It appears once the base station has sent its status. See Smart Home Integration.
Rows show or hide depending on the current status:
| Row | What it shows or does |
|---|---|
| Home WiFi | Off, Connecting..., Connected, Reconnecting... or Failed. Tap it to turn Home Mode on or off. |
| Issue | Why Home WiFi failed, for example "Wrong password" or "Network not found". |
| Retry | Tap to try connecting Home Mode to your WiFi again. |
| Smart Home | Your smart home pairing: Not available, Not set up, Pairing..., Pairing failed, Re-pair needed, or your home's name. It reads Paired if the base station sent no home name. |
| Pairing Code | The code for adding the base station to your smart home, when the base station has one. |
| Info | Shows Groups changed when your channel groups changed after pairing. |
| Decommission | Removes the base station from your smart home. You can set it up again later. |
| Re-pair | Removes the current smart home pairing so it can be set up again. |
Each action asks you to tap Confirm or Cancel. After you confirm, the watch waits a few seconds for the base station to respond, then returns to the list.
Forget Base
Clears the stored pairing and returns the BassWatch to the watch face, unpaired, with the Tap to Pair button ready so you can pair a different device. Your display preferences, color theme, time, and saved WiFi networks are kept. You must choose Confirm Forget to proceed.
Factory Reset
Clears all stored settings, display preferences, color theme, and pairing, then restarts the BassWatch to the watch face, unpaired. You must choose Confirm Reset to proceed.
Factory Reset erases your pairing, display preferences (units, min/max, auto-swap, dim/sleep timers), color theme, and the saved WiFi networks used for firmware updates, then restarts the BassWatch. You will need to re-pair with your base station afterward and re-enter a WiFi network the next time you update. Use Forget Base instead if you only want to re-pair without losing your other settings.
