The LF Audio app connects by itself to the devices paired with your phone. You can stop it connecting to one device, or forget a device so it is removed from your phone.
See your paired devices
- Open the Devices tab.
- Tap Add device.
The Add Device page has two lists:
- Paired with this phone: the devices you paired with this phone. A device stays listed when it is off or out of range. Each row shows the device's name, its model and its status. Tap a device to open its page.
- Available to pair: devices nearby that are not paired with this phone. Tap one to pair it. See Pairing.
You can also open a device's page from the Devices tab. A device that loses its connection stays there, dimmed, with its status. Tap it. A device with a pairing problem can show Pairing error. Tap to fix. instead. Tap it. If the device is paired with this phone in the app, its page opens. If not, the app shows the steps to remove the old pairing in your phone's Bluetooth settings. Then pair the device again from Add device.
A device's page has these cards:
| Card | What it has |
|---|---|
| Bluetooth | The device's status, the Auto-connect switch and Forget Device. Retry Connection shows when the device has a pairing error or is not in range. |
| Account | Remove from my account. This card shows only when you are signed in and the device is in your LF Audio account. |
A connected device shows the same cards at the bottom of its INFO tab. Open the device, tap the gear icon, then scroll down. See Device Settings.
What the status means
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Connected | The device is connected to this phone. |
| Connecting... | The app is connecting to the device now. |
| Reconnecting... | The connection dropped. The app is connecting again. |
| Not in range | The app cannot reach the device right now. It connects by itself when the device is on and nearby. To try again now, tap Retry Connection. |
| Auto-connect off | The app does not connect to the device until you turn on Auto-connect. |
| Pairing error | This phone's Bluetooth pairing with the device is not working. Tap Retry Connection. If that does not help, tap Forget Device. On an iPhone, also forget the device in the Settings app. See Forget a device. Then pair the device again. |
Stop the app connecting to a device
Turn off Auto-connect. The device stays paired with your phone, so you can turn it back on at any time. Use this for a device you keep but do not want connected right now.
- Open the device's page. See See your paired devices.
- Turn off Auto-connect.
The app disconnects from the device and stops connecting to it. The device leaves the Devices tab. It stays under Paired with this phone, with the status Auto-connect off.
To connect again, open the device's page and turn on Auto-connect. The app connects when the device is on and nearby. You do not need to pair it again.
Good to know:
- Auto-connect is set on each phone. Turning it off on your phone does not stop another phone from connecting.
- You cannot turn off Auto-connect while you record a session from the device, or while the app sends it a firmware update over Bluetooth. The card says "Stop the recording on this device first." or "Wait for the firmware update to finish."
- With Auto-connect off, Song list does not work with that base station. See Song list.
- If every paired device has Auto-connect off, the Devices tab says "Auto-connect is off for your paired devices. Turn it on from Add device."
Forget a device
Forget Device removes a device from this phone. Use it for a device you no longer use, or to pair a device again from the start.
- Open the device's page. See See your paired devices.
- Tap Forget Device.
- Read the message. Tap Forget Device again to confirm.
The app disconnects from the device and no longer sets it up as your device. The device leaves Paired with this phone. When it is nearby, it shows under Available to pair. What else it removes depends on your phone:
| Phone | What Forget Device removes |
|---|---|
| Android | The device, the phone's Bluetooth pairing with it, its saved BT PIN, and its link to any home screen widget. If the message asks you to, also remove the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings. |
| iPhone | The device and its saved BT PIN. Your iPhone keeps its own Bluetooth pairing. To remove that too, open the Settings app, tap Bluetooth, tap the info button next to the device, then tap Forget This Device. |
To use the device again, tap Add device and pair it. See Pairing.
Good to know:
- A forgotten device stays in your LF Audio account, with its recording sessions. Want it out of your account too? Remove it from your account first, while its page is still there. See Remove a device from your account.
- You cannot forget a device while you record a session from it, or while the app sends it a firmware update over Bluetooth. Stop the recording, or wait for the update to finish.
- On Android, if the app cannot remove the phone's Bluetooth pairing, it tells you. Tap Retry. Or remove the device in your phone's Bluetooth settings.
- Forget Device changes nothing on the device itself. A base station, analyzer or hub keeps its own list of paired phones. To clear that list, use Forget Phones.
Remove a device from your account
When you are signed in, a device in your LF Audio account shows an Account card on its page.
- Open the device's page. See See your paired devices.
- On the Account card, tap Remove from my account.
- Tap Remove from my account again to confirm.
Removing a device from your account deletes all its recording sessions. They cannot be recovered.
Its paired knobs leave your account too. The device stays paired with your phone, and the app keeps connecting to it.
To add the device back, let it connect, then open it from the Devices tab. Tap the cloud-upload icon at the top of its monitoring screen. See Registering a Device to Your Account.
If a device is not on the Devices tab
The Devices tab shows the devices the app is connected to. A device that loses its connection stays there, dimmed. A device that is off or out of range may not be there at all.
- Tap Add device.
- Find the device under Paired with this phone. Check its status. See What the status means.
- Not listed? Then it is not paired with this phone. Find it under Available to pair and pair it.
