Overview

LF Audio regularly releases firmware updates for the HPVM and HPVM Pro that add new features, improve performance, and refine calibration. Updates are delivered over-the-air (OTA) and can be applied via Bluetooth directly from the LF Audio AuralSync app, or via Wi-Fi for larger updates.

Checking for Updates

  1. Open the AuralSync app and connect to your HPVM.
  2. Tap on your device in the device list to open its detail view.
  3. If a firmware update is available, an orange notification banner will appear at the top of the device screen.
  4. Tap the banner to see details about the update, including the new version number and a summary of new features or changes.

Updating via Bluetooth

For smaller updates, firmware can be transferred directly over Bluetooth:

  1. With your HPVM connected in the AuralSync app, tap the orange update banner.
  2. Select Install via Bluetooth.
  3. Keep your phone close to the unit during the transfer.
  4. A progress indicator and ETA timer are shown both in the app and on the unit's display.
  5. Once the transfer is complete, the unit will automatically restart and resume normal operation.
  6. Verify the update was applied by checking the firmware version in the device info section of the app.

Updating via Wi-Fi

Wi-Fi updates are available for larger firmware packages and allow the unit to download the update independently without needing your phone nearby throughout the process.

First-time Wi-Fi setup:

  1. In the AuralSync app, go to your device settings and find the Wi-Fi section.

  2. Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. Use a 2.4 GHz network — the HPVM does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.

  3. Save the settings. The unit will connect to your Wi-Fi network automatically when in range. Performing a Wi-Fi update:

  4. Ensure the HPVM is within range of your configured Wi-Fi network.

  5. Open the AuralSync app and connect to your HPVM via Bluetooth.

  6. Tap the orange update banner and select Install via Wi-Fi.

  7. The unit will download and apply the update over Wi-Fi. Progress is shown on the unit's display.

  8. Once complete, the unit will automatically restart and resume normal operation.
