Overview
LF Audio regularly releases firmware updates for the HPVM and HPVM Pro that add new features, improve performance, and refine calibration. Updates are delivered over-the-air (OTA) and can be applied via Bluetooth directly from the LF Audio AuralSync app, or via Wi-Fi for larger updates.
Checking for Updates
- Open the AuralSync app and connect to your HPVM.
- Tap on your device in the device list to open its detail view.
- If a firmware update is available, an orange notification banner will appear at the top of the device screen.
- Tap the banner to see details about the update, including the new version number and a summary of new features or changes.
Updating via Bluetooth
For smaller updates, firmware can be transferred directly over Bluetooth:
- With your HPVM connected in the AuralSync app, tap the orange update banner.
- Select Install via Bluetooth.
- Keep your phone close to the unit during the transfer.
- A progress indicator and ETA timer are shown both in the app and on the unit's display.
- Once the transfer is complete, the unit will automatically restart and resume normal operation.
- Verify the update was applied by checking the firmware version in the device info section of the app.
Updating via Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi updates are available for larger firmware packages and allow the unit to download the update independently without needing your phone nearby throughout the process.
First-time Wi-Fi setup:
In the AuralSync app, go to your device settings and find the Wi-Fi section.
Enter your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password. Use a 2.4 GHz network — the HPVM does not support 5 GHz Wi-Fi.
Save the settings. The unit will connect to your Wi-Fi network automatically when in range. Performing a Wi-Fi update:
Ensure the HPVM is within range of your configured Wi-Fi network.
Open the AuralSync app and connect to your HPVM via Bluetooth.
Tap the orange update banner and select Install via Wi-Fi.
The unit will download and apply the update over Wi-Fi. Progress is shown on the unit's display.
Once complete, the unit will automatically restart and resume normal operation.
