This article covers the first few minutes with a new BassWatch: charging it, waking it, and getting it ready to pair. Because the BassWatch is battery powered and worn on the wrist, there is nothing to wire or mount. Charge it, wake it, and pair it.
In the Box
- The BassWatch
- A USB-C charging cable
A charger head and a WVC base station are not included. You will need a USB-C power source to charge, and a WVC base station (sold separately) to pair with. See the Overview for the list of compatible base stations.
Charge It First
Charge the BassWatch fully before first use. Ships-from-factory battery levels are intentionally low for storage and transport safety.
- Connect the included USB-C cable to the watch and to any standard USB power source (a phone charger, a laptop port, or a car USB port all work).
- The watch wakes and shows a charging indicator. It begins charging immediately.
- Leave it connected until the battery gauge reads full.
A full charge from empty typically takes a couple of hours, depending on the power source. See Battery and Charging for charge behavior, battery life, and power-saving details.
Connecting the watch to power is also how you wake a unit whose battery has fully drained. Plug it in, let it charge for a few minutes, and it powers back on.
Waking the Watch
The BassWatch does not have a traditional on/off switch. To save battery, the screen dims and then turns off after a period of inactivity, and the watch keeps its wireless link warm while the screen is dark. Wake it any of these ways:
- Raise your wrist (tilt-to-wake): lift and turn the watch toward you as you would to check the time
- Tap the screen
- Put it on the charger: connecting USB-C power wakes the display
If nothing wakes it and the screen stays dark, the battery may be empty. Connect it to power and give it a few minutes.
First Boot
The first time the BassWatch has charge and wakes, it shows a brief startup splash and then, because it is not yet paired to a base station, opens the getting-started wizard. The wizard walks you through pairing with your WVC base station. No app or phone is needed.
See First Boot and Pairing for the full pairing walkthrough.
Setting the Time
The BassWatch keeps time with an internal real-time clock, so the watch face shows the current time even while the watch is asleep. Set the time (and choose 12-hour or 24-hour display) in the menu under Settings > Time. See Menus and Settings.
Quick Start Checklist
- Charge the watch to full over USB-C.
- Raise your wrist or tap the screen to wake it.
- Follow the getting-started wizard to pair with your WVC base station (triple-press the Reset button on the base station to put it in pairing mode). See First Boot and Pairing.
- Set the time in Settings > Time.
- Wear it. Tap the watch face to open monitoring whenever you want to check your system.
