Capture a timestamped recording of everything your device is reporting (voltage, temperature, volume, channel groups, and more) so you can review it later in the app or open it on the customer portal from any browser.
Recordings are tied to your account, so any session you start on your phone is automatically available on the web portal as soon as the data finishes uploading. You start and stop recordings from the app; the portal is for browsing, analyzing, exporting, and deleting them afterwards.
What's in a Session
A session is a single recording from one connected device. It includes:
- Every channel of live data the device reports (voltage, temperature, volume, IDS limit, and any other channels specific to that device model)
- Start time, end time, and total duration
- Sample count and channel count
- A snapshot of the device's name, hardware model, firmware version, hardware version, and channel-group labels at the moment the recording started
You can record from any connected device: WVC, HPVM, WTH, WDD, HPPM, or SSA. The channels available depend on the device model.
Before You Start
To record sessions you need to be signed in to your LF Audio account in the app. If you're not signed in yet:
- Open the Settings tab.
- Scroll to the Account section.
- Choose one of: Continue with Google, Continue with Apple (iOS only), or enter your email address and tap Send sign-in link.
- For email sign-in, open the magic link from your inbox on the same phone (the app finishes sign-in automatically), or if the link does not open the app, enter the 6-digit fallback code shown in the email.
See Account and Sign-In for the full workflow and a list of every sign-in option.
If the record icon on a device's screen looks faded out and says "Sign in to record," sign-in is all that is missing. Once you finish sign-in the icon becomes active.
Start a Recording in the App
- Open the AuralSync app and tap the device you want to record from on the Devices tab.
- In the top-right of the device screen, tap the record icon (a small circle).
- A short spinner appears while the recording is being created. Once it's ready, the icon turns into a solid red dot with an elapsed-time counter in MM:SS format.
The recording is live from this point on. You can leave the device screen, switch tabs, or even lock your phone. As long as the app keeps running and the device stays connected, samples continue to accumulate.
Recording works best with the app in the foreground. If your phone closes the app to save battery, the session will end automatically and be marked as app closed in the session list. What was captured up to that point is still saved.
Stop a Recording
- From the device screen (or any sessions list), tap the red record icon or the Stop button on the recording card.
- A confirmation dialog appears showing how many samples have been captured. Tap Stop.
- Any samples still in flight are uploaded automatically before the session is finalized.
The session then appears with status ended and is ready to view.
You don't have to manually upload. The app uploads samples in the background while you record, and finishes any remaining batches when you stop.
View Your Sessions in the App
There are two ways to open your saved sessions.
Sessions for one device
Open a device from the Devices tab, then tap the history icon in the top-right of the device screen. This filters the list to recordings from that device only.
All your sessions
Open the Settings tab, scroll to the account area, and tap View my sessions. This shows every recording across every device on your account.
What the list shows
Sessions are grouped by date: Today, Yesterday, This week, Older. Each row shows:
- Device name and hardware model
- Start time and duration
- Sample count and number of channels
- Status: recording, ended, or a specific end reason if the recording stopped unexpectedly
Possible end reasons:
| Reason | When this happens |
|---|---|
| user stop | You tapped Stop. The normal case. |
| BLE timeout | The Bluetooth connection went silent for too long (about 60 seconds). The most common involuntary reason. |
| app closed | Your phone closed the app to save battery before you stopped the recording. Captured samples are preserved. |
| stop all | You used Settings > Stop All Recordings to stop multiple in-flight sessions at once. |
| disk full | Your phone ran out of local storage. Captured samples are preserved. |
| signed out | You signed out of the app while a recording was in flight. |
| upload failed | The final batch couldn't reach the cloud. The session is preserved locally and will retry next time you sign in. |
Tap any ended session to open the detail page with the full chart and channel toggles. Swipe a row left to remove it from your phone.
If you tap an active recording, the app prompts you to stop and view it first. Samples that haven't been written to storage yet aren't available for playback until the session ends.
If you reinstall the app or sign in on a different phone, the sessions list pulls your cloud history automatically. Sessions you haven't downloaded yet are marked as cloud-only and tapping them opens a message directing you to the customer portal. Full in-app playback for cloud sessions is on the roadmap.
View Your Sessions on the Customer Portal
The customer portal at app.lf-audio.com is the web-based view of your account. Anything you record on your phone shows up there as soon as the upload finishes.
Sign in to the portal
- Open app.lf-audio.com in any browser (phone, tablet, or computer).
- Enter the same email address you use in the app.
- Click the magic link sent to your inbox to finish signing in.
Browse your sessions
After sign-in, your account dashboard shows your registered devices. Two ways to find sessions:
- All sessions: open My sessions to see every recording across every device, newest first. Use the Load more button at the bottom to page through older recordings.
- Per-device sessions: open a device from the dashboard, then click through to its sessions list. This filters to that device only.
Each list entry shows the same metadata as the app: device name, start time, duration, sample count, channel count, and a status badge that includes the end reason in parentheses where applicable (for example, ended (app closed) or ended (BLE timeout)).
Open a session
Click a session card to open the detail page. The detail page includes:
- Header: device model, device ID, hardware version, firmware version, build date, status, start/end time, duration, total samples, channel count, and a snapshot of channel-group labels at recording time
- Live chart: every channel plotted on a single time-axis graph
- Channel toggles: turn individual channels on or off to focus on the data that matters
- Split-channel cards: pull any channel into its own dedicated chart card so you can compare it side-by-side with the main view
- Pan and zoom: drag the chart to scrub through time; use the pinch / scroll-wheel to zoom in on a specific window
- Firmware-update banner: if newer firmware is available for the device, the portal surfaces a banner with a link
- Download CSV: export every sample as a CSV file you can open in Excel, Numbers, or any data analysis tool
- Delete: permanently remove the recording from your account (see Privacy and Account below)
The portal automatically caches each session you open, so revisiting an ended session loads instantly.
Use the portal when you want to share a session with someone else (LF Audio support, a tuner, or an installer). Sign-in is per-account, so anyone you share the link with needs to be signed in to the same account to view it.
Privacy and Account
- Sessions are private to your account. No one else can see your recordings unless they sign in to your account.
- Sessions are tied to your account, not your phone. If you reinstall the app or switch phones, signing back in restores your recording history from the cloud.
- Swipe-deleting in the app only removes the local copy from that phone. The cloud copy is preserved and the session still appears on the portal and on any other phone signed in to your account.
- To delete a recording from your account, use the Delete button on the customer portal at app.lf-audio.com. The session is hidden from your account immediately and kept in cold storage for 30 days in case you change your mind. After 30 days the recording is unrecoverable.
- A deleted session disappears from the app's sessions list the next time the list refreshes.
