Forget Phones

advanced

Forget Phones removes every phone paired to your base station, analyzer or hub. Use it when a phone cannot pair. You do not need a phone to use it.

When to use it

Use Forget Phones when:

  • Your phone cannot pair with your base station, analyzer or hub.
  • You forgot it in your phone's Bluetooth settings. It still fails.
  • The LF Audio app cannot connect. So you cannot use its Remove & Re-pair.

Why it helps: your phone keeps half of the pairing. Your base station keeps the other half. Forgetting it on the phone clears only the phone's half. Forget Phones clears the base station's half.

Good to know:

  • It removes every phone, not just one. Each phone must pair again.
  • Your knobs and displays stay paired. Only phones are removed.
  • The BT PIN does not change. That is the 6-digit code your phone asks for.
  • Resetting a WVC base station does not remove phone pairings. Forget Phones does.
Tip

Does the LF Audio app show a Connection Problem message? Tap its Remove & Re-pair button. Can the app still reach your base station, analyzer or hub? Then this also removes every phone. Next, do the steps in After you remove the phones. See Bluetooth Pairing Problems.

Where to find it

Device Where Forget Phones is
RTC Long-press the screen or the encoder to open the menu. Choose Advanced > Forget Phones.
WDD-LITE Long-press the screen, or tap the gear, to open the menu. Tap Advanced > Forget Phones.
PRO knob: WVC Dual PRO Knob or WVC Quad PRO Knob Press and hold an encoder, or tap the gear, to open the menu. Choose Advanced > Forget Phones.
BassWatch Long-press the screen, or press the side button, to open the menu. Tap Advanced > Forget Phones.
Knob: Single, Dual, Concentric or Quad Long-press the knob to open the menu. Choose Advanced > Forget Phones.
WVC-PRO 6 touchscreen Open Settings > System > Info. Tap Forget Phones. It is right under BT PIN.
Analyzer: SSA touchscreen Tap the gear to open Settings. Open the System tab. Tap Forget Phones. It is right under BT PIN.
Temperature hub: WTH touchscreen Tap the gear on the TEMPERATURES home screen. Open the System tab. Tap Forget Phones. It is right under BT PIN.

A display or knob clears the base station it is paired with. Is your RTC, WDD-LITE or BassWatch paired to an analyzer or a hub? Then it clears that analyzer or hub.

Don't see it? See If Forget Phones is missing.

Remove the phones

  1. Open Forget Phones. See the table above.
  2. A message asks: "Remove every phone paired to your base station? Each phone must pair again with the BT Pin."
  3. Choose Forget:
    • RTC: the choice starts on Cancel. Turn the encoder one way to move to Forget. Turn it back for Cancel. Or swipe left or right. Then press or tap.
    • Single, Dual, Concentric or Quad knob: the choice starts on Cancel. Turn to Forget. Then press.
    • PRO knob: the choice starts on Cancel. Turn an encoder until Forget is outlined. If Cancel stays outlined, turn the other way. Then press. Or tap Forget. It ignores a tap right after it shows, so wait a moment.
    • WDD-LITE, BassWatch, or the WVC-PRO 6, SSA or WTH touchscreen: tap Forget. It ignores a tap right after it shows. Wait a moment, then tap it.
  4. The screen shows "Removing phones..." This can take up to about 12 seconds.
  5. Read the result. See What the result means.
  6. On a display or knob, choose OK to close the result. A press right after the result shows does nothing. Wait a moment. The WVC-PRO 6, SSA and WTH touchscreens show the result under the Forget Phones button.

To stop, choose Cancel. Nothing is removed.

Did another screen cover it while it waited? Open Forget Phones again. It shows the result.

Did your display or knob restart? An update restarts it. A Single, Dual, Concentric or Quad knob may also restart when it sleeps. Then the result is lost. Run Forget Phones again. Trying again is safe.

Note

The message names your device: base station, analyzer or hub. A display or knob always says base station. The WVC-PRO 6, SSA and WTH touchscreens say BT PIN, not BT Pin.

Firmware you need

Device Firmware
Base station: WVC, WVC-LITE, WVC-LITE 6, WVC-PRO or WVC-PRO 6 4.20 or newer
Analyzer: SSA 4.20 or newer
Temperature hub: WTH 4.20 or newer
RTC 4.12.8 or newer
WDD-LITE 4.14.3 or newer
PRO knob: WVC Dual PRO Knob or WVC Quad PRO Knob 4.14.3 or newer
BassWatch 4.13.0 or newer
Knob: Single, Dual, Concentric or Quad 4.9.0 or newer
WVC-PRO 6 touchscreen 4.20 or newer. The base station update installs it too.
  • Update the base station first. Then update your display or knob.
  • A base station has more than one firmware part. One update usually installs them all. Open Base Info and check the firmware numbers. Every one must be 4.20 or newer. A WVC-PRO 6 shows three. If one is older, update the base station again. See Firmware Updates.
  • An analyzer or hub has two parts. One update covers both. Its System tab shows both numbers.

If Forget Phones is missing

On a display or knob, the row is hidden until it can work. Check each of these:

  1. The display or knob is connected to the base station.
  2. Every firmware number of the base station is 4.20 or newer.
  3. The display or knob has the firmware in the table above.

Is your display paired to an analyzer or a hub? Then it shows Forget Phones only on a secure link. A display paired long ago may not have one. Update the analyzer or hub and the display first. If the row is still missing, pair the display again:

  1. On the display, choose Advanced > Forget Base.
  2. Pair it again. See RTC pairing, WDD-LITE pairing or BassWatch pairing.

The WVC-PRO 6, SSA and WTH touchscreens always show the Forget Phones button. Is the base station or hub too old? Then it tells you to update it first.

After you remove the phones

Do this on each phone:

  1. Open your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  2. Find your base station, analyzer or hub in the list. Tap it. Choose Forget. Some phones say Unpair.
  3. Close the LF Audio app fully. Then open it again.
  4. Let the app find your base station, analyzer or hub. Not listed? Open the Devices tab and tap Add device.
  5. Your phone or the app may ask for a code. Enter the BT PIN.

Where to find the BT PIN

Your device Where the BT PIN is
WVC base station On your knob, RTC, WDD-LITE, PRO knob or BassWatch: open the menu. Choose Base Info. Find BT Pin.
WVC-PRO 6 Also on its touchscreen: Settings > System > Info > BT PIN.
Analyzer: SSA On the analyzer's touchscreen: Settings > System tab > BT PIN.
Temperature hub: WTH On the hub's touchscreen: Settings > System tab > BT PIN.
Note

Is your display paired to an analyzer or a hub? Then the display does not show the BT PIN. Read it on the analyzer or hub itself.

For more help pairing a phone, see Bluetooth Pairing.

A phone may reconnect by itself

A phone with the LF Audio app may reconnect by itself. On Android, the app remembers the BT PIN. It can pair again within seconds. Nobody has to type the PIN.

So a phone may be paired again right after Forget Phones works. This is normal.

Forget Phones is for a phone that cannot pair. It does not keep out someone who knows the BT PIN.

Linked base stations

Do you link more than one base station? Forget Phones clears only one of them. It clears the base station your display or knob is paired with. Your other linked base stations keep their phones.

The WVC-PRO 6 touchscreen clears its own base station.

What the result means

The words below say "base station". Your screen may say analyzer or hub instead.

A display or knob shows the result and the words under it. The WVC-PRO 6, SSA and WTH touchscreens show only the words. For example, they show "No phones are paired now..." without "Phones removed".

Result The screen says What to do
Phones removed "No phones are paired now. On each phone, forget the base station. Then pair again." It worked. Follow After you remove the phones.
Not removed "No phones were removed. Try again." Choose Forget Phones again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
Not all removed "Some phones were not removed. Try again." Choose Forget Phones again. If it keeps failing, contact support.
Not ready "The base station's Bluetooth is not ready. Try again soon." The base station may have just turned on. Wait a minute. Then try again.
Busy "The base station is busy. Try again soon." Another Forget Phones may be running, maybe from another display. Or a firmware update may be running. Wait for it to finish. Then try again.
Update needed "Update the base station first." Part of the base station has older firmware. Update the base station. Check that every firmware number is 4.20 or newer.
No response "The base station did not respond. Try again." No answer came within about 12 seconds. Check that the base station is on. Keep your display or knob near it. Try again.

Trying again is safe. If the phones are already gone, you see "Phones removed". On a touchscreen, you see "No phones are paired now".

Messages before you start

The WVC-PRO 6 and WTH touchscreens may show a message first:

The screen says What to do
"Checking the base station. Try again soon." It is still starting up. Wait a few seconds. Tap Forget Phones again.
"Update the base station first." Update the base station. Then try again.

On the WTH, these say hub instead of base station.
